QR Code Reader

Decode QR codes from uploaded images or your device camera and extract payloads (URLs, vCards, Wi‑Fi, geo, events). Export results as text, CSV, JSON, VCF, or ICS and preview links safely.

QR Code Reader

Introduction

The QR Code Reader extracts and decodes QR codes from images or live camera input so you can quickly see the embedded data (URL, text, vCard, Wi‑Fi credentials, geo coordinates, etc.). It’s useful for event staff, marketers, support teams, security analysts, and everyday users who need to read printed or on-screen QR codes without a mobile app.

What is this tool?

The tool accepts image uploads (PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, SVG where supported) or uses your device camera to scan QR codes in real time. It detects one or multiple QR codes in a single image, corrects for rotation and some distortion using QR error-correction, and returns the raw payload and a parsed interpretation (e.g., link, contact card, Wi‑Fi details). Options typically include download of decoded results as text/CSV/JSON and safe link preview before opening.

Why use this tool?

  • Quick decoding: Read QR codes from screenshots, printed materials, or PDFs without installing a mobile app.
  • Bulk/archival work: Extract many QR codes from scanned documents or catalogs and export data for processing.
  • Verification: Inspect QR payloads before scanning with a phone—useful for security checks or testing campaign links.
  • Support & QA: Validate that generated codes (vCards, Wi‑Fi, event invites) contain the expected data.
  • Accessibility: Provide decoded text for users who cannot scan with a phone camera.

How to use it

  1. Choose an input method: drag-and-drop or upload an image file, paste a screenshot, or click “Use Camera” to scan live (allow camera permission when prompted).
  2. If using the camera, position the QR code in the frame and hold steady until the tool detects it.
  3. Wait for decoding — the tool will list each QR found with the raw payload and a friendly parse (URL, text, vCard fields, Wi‑Fi SSID/security, geo coordinates).
  4. Review results. Use the provided actions: copy to clipboard, download as .txt/.csv/.json, preview URL safely, or export contact as .vcf.
  5. For multiple codes in one image, review each entry and export collectively as CSV/JSON if needed.

Examples

  • Input image: screenshot of a poster with a QR → Output: URL: https://example.com/coupon (preview, copy, open)
  • Input image: business card QR → Output: vCard parsed to name, phone, email with “Download .vcf” option
  • Input image: Wi‑Fi QR → Output: SSID: MyNet, Auth: WPA, Password: s3cret (copy or export)

Tips for reliable scanning

  • Use high-resolution images and good lighting; avoid strong glare or reflections.
  • Ensure the QR is not severely cropped or occluded; higher ECC levels tolerate some damage.
  • For camera scanning, hold steady and ensure autofocus can lock on the code.
  • Invert colors (light on dark) may fail on some decoders — try converting to positive contrast if needed.

Privacy & safety

Uploaded images are processed in real time and not retained by default. If your deployment stores uploads or logs, disclose this clearly. The tool shows raw URLs and payloads but does not automatically open links; always inspect previews before following links. Decoded payloads can contain redirects or malicious destinations—treat unknown links cautiously.

Limitations

Very low-resolution, heavily blurred, or extremely distorted codes may fail to decode. Some artistic or decorative QR variants (embedded images, heavy color gradients) can break scanning despite high ECC. PDF vector content or stylized SVGs might require rasterization before decoding.
